Since 2023, Meubelfabriek De Valk has had a state-of-the-art, high-capacity powder coating line. This new installation enables us to quickly and efficiently powder-coat large volumes of metal products to a high standard. Thanks to the advanced technology, we can powder-coat objects up to 3500mm x 1100mm in any RAL colour, which makes us very flexible and versatile.

Pretreatment

The first step in the powder coating process is the pre-treatment of the metal. The surface must be completely free of contaminants such as dirt, oil and rust to ensure proper adhesion of the powder coating. This cleaning is done by chemical baths and rinses.

Applying coating

After pre-treatment, the metal object is taken to the powder coating booth. Here, the powder is applied using an electrostatic spray gun. This gun gives the powder an electrical charge, causing the particles to adhere to the grounded metal surface. This ensures even distribution of the powder.

Curing

The coated object is then heated in an oven, where the powder particles melt and form a uniform layer. The curing temperature and time vary depending on the type of powder, but are usually between 160 and 200 degrees Celsius and take 10 to 20 minutes. During this process, the powder flows out and hardens.

Cooling down and inspection

After curing, the object is cooled and inspected for any imperfections. Any minor defects can be corrected before the product is ready for use. Your objects are ready for delivery.
